ASIES, el mejor de Centroamérica en 2020

De acuerdo con el Global Go To Think Tank Index, 2020, publicado hoy, ASIES es el mejor centro de pensamiento de Centroamérica, y uno de los mejores del mundo. Además, es reconocido como uno de los mejores en abordar políticas sociales y por su respuesta institucional ante la pandemia de COVID-19.

El índice es elaborado, desde hace 15 años, por el Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program, de la Universidad de Pensilvania, con el fin de reconocer la importancia de las contribuciones de los centros de pensamiento en el mundo. Para su edición 2020 evaluó a más de 11 mil centros de pensamiento de todo el mundo, en diferentes categorías regionales y por área de especialidad.

ASIES fue reconocida por octavo año consecutivo entre los mejores de Centro y Sudamérica, ocupando esta vez el puesto 7 de 84, y encabezando la lista de centros del istmo, lo que lo coloca nuevamente como el mejor de Guatemala.

De igual forma, fue incluida por sexta ocasión entre los mejores centros del mundo (sin contar a EE. UU.) -puesto 129 de 150- y entre los mejores en abordar políticas sociales -puesto 88 de 120-.

Debido al contexto de COVID-19 en el que se realizó la medición, también se incluyó una categoría de mejor respuesta política e institucional a esta pandemia, entre la que se lista, en orden alfabético, a ASIES.

Para el Global Go To Think Tank Index, se toman en cuenta aspectos como la calidad y el compromiso de los líderes de los centros de pensamiento; su capacidad para reclutar y retener analistas de élite; su reputación y desempeño académico; la calidad, cantidad y alcance de sus investigaciones; y el  impacto de sus análisis en la creación de políticas públicas.

ASIES es un centro de pensamiento, no lucrativo, de carácter privado, fundado hace 41 años, en 1979. Nuestra misión es contribuir a fortalecer el Estado democrático de derecho y al desarrollo integral de Guatemala por medio de la investigación e incidencia.

According to the Global Go To Think Tank Index, 2020, published today, AASIES is the top think tank in Central America and one of the best worldwide. It is also recognized among the top social policy think tanks, and for its institutional response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The index has been prepared, for 15 years, by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program, of the University of Pennsylvania, to acknowledge the important contributions and emerging global trends of think tanks worldwide. For its 2020 edition, it evaluated more than 11,000hink tanks, in different regional categories, and by specialty area.

ASIES was recognized for the eighth consecutive year among the best in Central and South America, this time ranked 7 out of 84, heading the list of think tanks in Central America, which once again places it as the best in Guatemala.

In the same way, it was included for the sixth time among the top think tanks worldwide (Non-US) – 129 out of 150 – and among the top social policy think tanks – 88 out of 120.

Due to the context of COVID-19 in which the measurement was carried out, a category of best policy and institutional response to this pandemic was also included, among which ASIES is listed, in alphabetical order.

For the Global Go To Think Tank Index, aspects such as the quality and commitment of the leaders of the think tanks are taken into account; their ability to recruit and retain elite analysts; their reputation and academic performance; the quality, quantity, and scope of their investigations; and the impact of their analysis on the creation of public policies.

ASIES is a private, non-profit think tank, founded 41 years ago, in 1979. Its mission is to contribute to strengthening the democratic State of law and the integral development of Guatemala through research, analysis, and advocacy.
